About Us
Our Support Group
Our support group gets together monthly usually at Park Road in Milton as it is central to most people in Brisbane. Our meetings are on a Saturday to allow people who work and have children to come along. For more information, please refer to our face book page and look in the events section to find the next meeting in your area.
We also have groups on the Sunshine Coast and in Mackay that meet monthly. Check the contacts section of our website to find support in your area.
We discuss issues associated with Lupus as well as organising our upcoming fundraising and social events. We have access to a range of Queensland Health Professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rheumatologists and Psychologists as well as resources, texts and books. If you are not ready to come along to a group meeting, check out our face book fan page and see if there is someone in your area you can meet for a coffee. Personal experience has taught us that communicating with others who have experienced what you are going through helps negotiate past the bereavement stage and onto acceptance. Family and friends are more than welcome at our support group meetings and we encourage YOUR support group (husband, partner, wife, children, friends) to read through our ‘inspiration’ page, as this can help them understand the implications of Lupus a bit better and is more personable than reading about the diagnosis itself.
As joint and kidney involvement are predominant issues for individuals with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus we have provided the contact details for Arthritis Queensland, Kidney Health Australia, the Australian Rheumatology Association and Coast Joint Care on the Sunshine Coast. Please refer to our ‘contacts’ page for information.
